12th Annual Weekend With The Masters

Guest Instructors

Soke Dai Patrick Albrecht will be teaching a rare martial art, Hojojitsu.  Hojojitsu is the martial skill of restraining a prisoner with rope.  It was practiced by the warrior class samurai who acted as police officers.  This will be the first class I know of to be taught to the public.  Soke Dai Albrecht will also be teaching the cane.  This class is back by popular demand from a couple of years ago.  The cane is the only legal weapon that is still allowed on airplanes.

Soke Calvin Campbell 10th Dan instructor of Tajuwuka Kai Do system will be teaching a dynamic bo form called Ta Wu Bo Shi.  This is an exciting form to watch and is a proven tournament winner.  Soke Campbell is a popular instructor with a proven track record.  Soke is thinking about writing a book on Martial Art Speed Drills and has consented to teach this material to us this year before it's available in the book.

Soke Sonny Barker will be teaching a little known kata called Suparimpei.  This translates into "one hundred and eight" after the number of movements in the kata.  This will be a great class for a hard to find kata that is becoming very popular on the tournament scene.

Soke Dai R.D. Lawrence will be teaching Four Directional Escapes.  In a real life confrontation your environment may limit your options for entry or retreat.  This class will enhance your available choices.  Topics to be covered are circular entry, circular retreat, straight entry and straight retreat.

Hanshi Dean Sutzer is an 9th Degree Black Belt from Michigan.  Hanshi Sutzer will be teaching a class on sword disarming techniques.  A lot of Aikijitsu techniques came from these techniques.  Open to all students.  Please bring a Bokken.  Forearm  pads will also be helpful.  No live swords will be allowed for safety reasons. A three foot stick will also work.

Hanshi Jeff Disney is an 8th Degree Black Belt.  Hanshi Disney will be teaching our Kid Safe class this year.  We have done this class every year and it is one of our most popular classes.  Hanshi Disney comes highly recommended for his ability to teach children.  He will be teaching simple self-defense techniques against different kinds of grabs as well as how to react when approached by strangers.  While class is being taught children will be photographed and fingerprinted with this information going home with the parents for future reference.

Hanshi Connie Arrington is an 8th Degree Black Belt.  Hanshi Arrington was invited back from last year's camp.  Hanshi Arrington will be teaching street self-defense and kicking drills.  So if anyone has a kicking pad at home please bring it with you in case we don't have enough.

Shihan Don Spetnagel will be a class on the Okinawan Oar know as the Eaku.  This is another class that is back by popular demand.  Shihan will have oars for everyone to use.  Shihan Spetnagel will be teaching a different form this year.  He will also be available if anyone needs to go over the form taught last year.  The class will cover grips, striking and other basics plus a 600 year old kata.  Once again we have given you a rare opportunity to learn about a little known weapon.
